Made of Sweet Cherry timber from a tree in our village this piece is a collaboration with my wife Naomi Vincent. The closed grain structure of Cherry allows much finer carving and detail to be achieved than is usual with timber.
This is a piece that intends to reflect both strength and fragility. Placement by a wall completes the sculpture by bringing to life the shadows which are as much part of the work as the physical.
As this is a delicate piece it would need to be placed where clothing or similar wouldn’t catch. It is finished with wax and can be easily dusted with a small brush.
This is a one off individually carved piece.
