This new clinker built launch is currently on the building blocks in the workshop. It has been designed by John drawing from the best of all the boats he has built and restored over the years.
At the heart of this new launch is the source of the timber which is all grown, felled and sawn in Devon/Cornwall, there is no rainforest or even imported timber used.

Made from category “2” timber* Oak and Chestnut. The clinker planking all comes from the same log which will be varnished inboard and has a rare and beautiful ripple pattern running through it.  The backbone and ribs are all of Oak.

Currently she is being made to fit either a quiet electric motor or a conventional diesel, that’s a choice that can be made after the hull is complete. Her rudder will not be transom hung but will have a shaft running up inside the transom through the aft deck to a tiller. This leaves the Transom free from the clutter of a rudder head.

The photos show battens and moulds which are not part of the finished boat but do show the form and run of the planking.

Her length is a little over 19’ and her width is a little under 8’.    There is a plan for the deck structure, seating and internal layout but that can be changed or altered to suit.
